Sound Healing
The therapeutic use of sound is based on the known fact that vibration affects individuals at all levels of existence: physical, physiological, emotional, psychological and spiritual. There is almost nothing that we do that doesn’t involve sound and vibration in some way; even language, complex social behavior, thoughts, and ideas are the work of our consciousness organizing sound to facilitate social communication and personal expression.
Humans have developed a consciousness designed to create, broadcast, conduct and process sounds, vibration, and movement. As sonic beings, we process sounds with our minds, bodies and nervous system and can “hear” interdimensionally with our entire bodies. In the inner ear for example, the vibration created by sound is ultimately converted into a nervous impulse that carries information to the brain by the movement of hair cells over gated channels that can be smaller than a Hydrogen atom. This means that sound is processed in both physical and subatomic (quantum) space. Therefore the perception of sound is both a physical and a quantum or spiritual event, with consciousness as the tool we use to navigate and balance movement between these planes ( I think this sentence needs to be rephrased or explained better). It is an unexplained manifestation of the universe that allows us to communicate with ourselves, others, and become co-creators of the reality that we experience.
It is widely accepted that the existence of consciousness is what differentiates animate from inanimate matter, and the living from the non-living. And unlike inanimate matter, living organisms act upon the environment with intention that creates changes from the quantum field to outer space. The earliest and simplest living organisms developed structures used to sense their environment, to move towards or away from desired or undesired places and events and the ability to learn by being able to process and store information (memory). They accomplished this despite the absence of brains or organized genetic material; demonstrating intentionality, memory and learning capabilities that are not conceivable without the existence of a consciousness to fuel the behavior.
As living organisms evolved into multicellular and increasingly diverse and complex forms they developed nervous systems to monitor both internal and external environments. Imbalance is a concept that refers only to living and manmade systems and every living thing has a characteristic vibration that defines when it is in tune or balance. The will to survive, to maintain balance with one’s internal and external environment and to self-repair is observed only in living organisms and this innate drive to establish and maintain homeostasis is the essence and definition of healing. It teaches us that all healing must occur within the individual and there is nothing outside of ourselves that is intrinsically healing, although there is much that can promote or hinder the process.
The nervous system is the primary target of all therapeutic sound practices since it has evolved in relationship to and under the influence of sound and vibration. Sound can activate the sympathetic nervous system when we need to be alerted to danger, the parasympathetic nervous system when we need to relax, socialize, sleep, concentrate etc., and in general to promote growth and regeneration in the body. Our capacity for communication and social behavior is also dependent on the neural structures in our brains developed to process sound / vibration. The auditory pathway has tonotopic organization from the ear to the auditory cortex; it is lined with cells that are designed to fire only at specific frequencies (can you explain this better?).
In general, it has been demonstrated that sound and music increase cardiac variability and blood pressure, respiratory rate, pain, and multiple physiological markers that are considered to reflect immunologic functions, and the organism’s ability to manage and recuperate from stress, anxiety, and other pathological emotional and physical states. The powerful effect of sound on emotions suggests significant influence over the neural circuitry and chemistry underlying its manifestations (can you rephrase and simplify this last sentence?).
In the sound healing process, the ability of vibrations and sound to alter physiological processes, as well as emotional and psychological states in individuals, is called sonic entrainment. It is an important part of the mechanism of action underlying the practice of sound healing. In the brain, the specific vibratory frequencies collectively called brain waves that are measured using an electroencephalogram (EEG), as well as the rhythmic ring of muscle cells in the heart as measured in electrocardiograms (EKG), are subject to entrainment.
Sonic blueprint that guides the behavior of all living organisms and creates patterns (what is?)
- vagal/parasympathetic stimulation
- Emotional Self Regulation
ANS balance
-Evidence based
-Self care, Service to others
→ How to use all the tools together and achieve balance or “tune up”
Silencing the mind, Mindful Listening, Intention, therapeutic alliance, changing the narrative, enhancing entrainment w musical training ,meditation and increasing awareness of internal and external states
→ THE INTEGRATION OF:
1. therapeutic sound practices- how the physical vibration effects the body (more than sound from headphones or speakers)
2. breathing exercises- parasympathetic effects
3. mindfulness meditation
4. cognitive behavioral therapy techniques- intention, personal beliefs

THE PROBLEM
– Corporate takeover of Medical field, not patient/doctor driven
– Doctors no longer healers; fragmented care, not wholistic/comprehensive or relevant to root causes of illness and malfunction,
– Disease oriented vs wellness
– Guided by profits, not addressing probs of population
– about 33% of all Americans use alternative txs: out of pocket expense dissatisfied with traditional medical care
– Modern life/world/society very stressful (eco, politics, nutrition, etc.)
– People get easily OUT OF TUNE
SOLUTION
TuneUpRx
– Daily practice for individuals, couples, groups, organizations, institutions
to tune up, align and balance themselves for optimal functioning and sense of wellbeing
– Grounded on practice of SELF CARE & SERVICE to others
– Evidence based practices, supported by clinical research
– Integrates: controlled breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation
practices, Cognitive Behavioral techniques and therapeutic sound healing protocols
